After completing MBBS from Rajiv Gandhi Medical College in Mumbai, he became a part of several renowned institutes like Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College & General Hospital, Sion (a.k.a Sion Hospital, Mumbai); Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai; Retina Speciality Hospital, Indore. Moreover, he is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, All India Ophthalmological Society, Delhi Ophthalmological Society.
Today, Amit Palkar is a medical and surgical eye doctor subspecialised in Retinal and Uveal diseases. He treats any type of retinal disorder, viz. Diabetic Retinopathy, Retinal Detachment, Age-related Macular Degeneration, Myopia Retinal Degeneration, Central Serous Chorioretinopathy, Hereditary Retinal Diseases, Retinopathy of Prematurity (Retinal condition of newborns), Ocular trauma, Inflammatory diseases of the eye, such as Anterior uveitis, Intermediate Uveitis, Posterior Uveitis, and Panuveitis. She has been trained under the best Retina surgeons in India at Asia’s most prestigious eye care hospital,Sankara Netralaya, Chennai. She has carried out several complicated and intricate retinal surgeries with this holistic approach.
She had been an Associate Consultant of the Vitreo-Retinal Department at Shri Ganapati Netralaya, Jalna and was actively involved in the screening and treatment of Retinopathy of Prematurity in Newborn babies. She has associated with multiple government programmes to raise awareness, screen and treat thousands of babies and save them from blindness.
